The Design & Technology Association is seeking an exceptional individual to become the next Chair of our Board of Trustees.
This is a unique opportunity to lead the national voice for design and technology education and help guide the Association through an exciting period of growth and transformation.
As Chair, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the Association, strengthening our influence across education, industry and government, and championing high-quality design and technology education for learners nationwide.

Design and technology has never been more important. The subject equips young people with the creativity, technical understanding and problem-solving skills needed to tackle real-world challenges and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
From engineering and manufacturing to product design, digital technologies and sustainable innovation, design and technology helps develop the next generation of designers, engineers, technologists and innovators.
The Design & Technology Association is at the forefront of supporting teachers, schools and industry partners to ensure these opportunities remain available to all young people.

Leading the Next Chapter
The Association has recently launched an ambitious new industry-funded regional model, beginning with the South West hub, supported by partners including Dyson and Samsung UK. The initiative is designed to connect schools with industry, provide fully funded support for teachers and learners, and strengthen design and technology education across the country.
The incoming Chair will help govern and shape this national expansion while ensuring the Association continues to deliver meaningful impact for schools, educators and young people.
About the Role
The Chair provides leadership to the Board of Trustees, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer to ensure strong governance, strategic focus and organisational effectiveness.
The successful candidate will bring significant leadership experience, strong influencing skills and a passion for the role design and technology education plays in developing future talent.
This is an unremunerated position requiring attendance at approximately five Board meetings per year, alongside committee involvement and occasional ambassadorial activity.
