Thomas is a Design and Technology teacher based in St Albans with well over a decade of experience. He has experience teaching and leading departments across a range of settings and key stages, with a strong focus on practical workshop-based learning and high-quality outcomes for pupils. As a practicing teacher, Thomas ensures that all training and consultancy work is grounded in the realities of the classroom. His approach links health and safety directly to teaching practice, helping departments develop safe and effective ways of working within their workshops.
Thomas works with schools across Hertfordshire, London and the wider South East, and can travel further where required. He offers both one-off consultancy and structured support through his D&T Safety Partnership, providing ongoing guidance throughout the academic year.
Thomas has a particular interest in supporting departments through change, including transitioning from Design and Technology to 3D Design. He is passionate about developing Key Stage 3 curricula that prepare pupils effectively for GCSE and A-Level study. Alongside health and safety training, Thomas offers a broad range of CPD and technical training, with particular expertise in both traditional workshop practice and CAD, using Fusion 360, TechSoft 2D Design, AutoCAD and SolidWorks, as well as laser cutting through LightBurn and 3D printing.
Thomas is a Registered Design and Technology Health & Safety Consultant (RDTHSC) and delivers DATA Health & Safety training in line with BS4163:2021 +A1:2022. He supports schools with staff training, workshop safety, machine maintenance and compliance, working with both experienced teachers and those new to workshop environments, including staff transitioning from Art or other disciplines. Thomas holds both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance, is DBS checked and is registered with the ICO.
