Practical cookery in primary - insights from the Leiths Education Primary Pilot 

Practical cookery for primary children can be a highlight in the school timetable for many children, but it can be challenging for schools to fit it into a busy timetable. Leiths Education, famous for their world-class cookery education, has been working with primary schools this year to pilot how more practical cookery can take place in the school year. 

This session is an opportunity to hear about the Leiths pilot project and the motivations of the schools involved. It will be led by Maria Dunbar, CEO of Leiths Education and a former food education teacher, and Alistair Turner, Director of Partnerships, who has overseen the pilot. Together they will share early research from the pilot and discuss what it takes to make practical cookery a highlight in the school timetable.
