Inside the School of Engineering & Design at London South Bank University

In this webinar, hosted by the Design & Technology Association, teachers were given a virtual tour of the School of Engineering & Design at London South Bank University.

Led by Barney Townsend, Course Leader for Product Design and Technology, the session explored the university’s workshops, facilities and project-based approach to learning. Viewers saw how students develop ideas through sketching, CAD modelling and hands-on prototyping using equipment such as CNC machines, laser cutters and 3D printers.

The webinar also highlighted student projects, industry competitions and the wide range of career pathways open to graduates, from product design and engineering to innovation and entrepreneurship.

For D&T teachers and students considering future study, the session provided a valuable insight into how university design programmes prepare the next generation of designers and engineers.
