Katie Cresswell-Maynard

Bio:

Katie is a nonprofit executive best known for her work in the global Engineers Without Borders network. She began volunteering with EWB while studying engineering as a university student two decades ago, igniting a passion for socially and environmentally responsible engineering she has remained committed to since.

After several programme management roles Katie became EWB UK’s CEO early in her career, overseeing the introduction of the Engineering for People Design Challenge into UK and South African universities, a flagship initiative already delivered to over 100,000 engineering students. She is now Executive Director of the global secretariat - EWB International - supporting close to 60 national EWB organisations throughout Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Americas, and Middle East. Her mandate emphasises collaboration, equity and collective action for people and the planet. By joining the DTA, Katie hopes to share the difference design and technology can make to people’s lives all over the world to children in the UK.
