Join us on this CPD webinar which takes you behind-the-scenes to explore the careers, creativity and technical skills involved in world-class production design. With guest speakers from the Royal Ballet & Opera Schools Create & Design, the session provides practical, real-world examples of how designers, production managers and visualisation technicians respond to briefs and solve complex problems collaboratively, to bring ideas to life for live audiences.
With a focus on handmade and advanced computer models as tools for developing, testing and communicating ideas, the team will engage teachers in an exploration of ‘world building’ ways of working, taking in sustainability, craft and technology.
For D&T teachers, this session offers inspiration for the classroom, drawing links between the curriculum and the creative industries. It’s ideal for enriching lessons on user-centred design, working with clients, collaborative making and understanding where STEM meets the arts. No prior knowledge of ballet or opera is necessary.
Join us to:
• Understand how designers, production managers and visualisation technicians interpret and respond to real-world briefs
• See how production design merges creativity, function, and technical problem-solving
• Find parallels and contrasts with other design sectors and practices
