A-Level Results Day 2025
Published 14th August 2025
Today marks a defining moment in the lives of thousands of young people across the country. A-Level, Vocational and Technical Qualifications and T Levels Results Day 2025. It’s a day charged with anticipation, relief, and pride, reflecting the hard work, determination, and resilience of students, supported every step of the way by their teachers and families.
A Mix of Emotions
For students, the morning brings a rush of excitement mixed with nerves as they log in online or open their envelopes, discovering the outcome of years of effort. Teachers, too, feel the significance of the day, seeing their students achieve grades and preparing them for the next stage in education, training, or work.
The Results
This year’s results are cause for celebration in D&T. While the number of entries saw a very small drop compared to 2024 (down 28 entries on 2024), there’s been a welcome rise in female participation (5.5% increase on 2024). Most importantly, grades have improved again, not just on last year, but also compared to pre-Covid 2019.
- A* grades are up 0.4% on 2024 and 1.4% on 2019.
- A* or A grades have increased by 1.4% this year — 3% higher than 2019.
- B grade or higher is up 5.3% since 2019. (down 0.3% on 2024)
- C grade or higher is up 3.2% since 2019. (up 0.5% on 2024)
These results suggest that both teachers and students have fully adapted to the 2017 syllabus changes, and performance continues to strengthen year on year. It’s a clear testament to the creativity, innovation, and hands-on problem-solving that D&T nurtures.
Moving Forward
For many, today is the start of an exciting new chapter. Whether moving on to university, an apprenticeship, vocational training, or entering the world of work, the skills developed through D&T, resilience, critical thinking, and design innovation, will serve them well.
Results across all subjects are described by The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) as being “stable and similar to 2024” suggesting that the trials and disruption caused by COVID-19 are behind us, statistically at least.
This results set included just over a quarter of a million Vocational and Technical Qualifications (VTQs) with T Levels, now in their fourth year of reporting, reporting 11,909 entries, a massive increase of 61.4% on 2024.
Tony Ryan - Chief Executive of the Design & Technology Association stated:
“This is a big results set for the subject as, following years of decline, we are now showing stability and a firm foundation on which to build. Congratulations to every student receiving their results today, we wish you well for the next stage of your personal journey; take time out today and over the coming weeks to reflect and celebrate your success.
If today’s results are not what you hoped for, don’t panic, there are teachers and organisations around to help you regroup, and remember, there is always more than one pathway to your chosen destination.”
Results Day is more than just a reflection on grades. It’s a celebration of learning, perseverance, and the bright possibilities ahead. To all D&T students, teachers, and families, congratulations, and here’s to the next stage of your journey.
