D&T at the Labour Party Conference

Published 30th September 2025

Our Chief Executive, Tony Ryan, is representing Design and Technology at this year’s Labour Party Conference in Liverpool.

Tony has headed north to host the dedicated event at the conference. Reflecting on the journey up, he shared his optimism about the growing recognition of the subject:

“We are making sound progress. People do want to get behind our subject, and it is not just a catchy tag line. Design & Technology matters… it really is that simple.”

This is an important opportunity to raise the profile of Design and Technology among policymakers and to emphasise the vital role our subject plays in preparing young people with the creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical understanding that industry needs.

Events like these ensure that the voice of D&T teachers and the wider community is heard. His message to teachers is clear:

“To every D&T teacher out there wondering if anyone cares about our subject, they do. Hang in there, we are coming good.”

We look forward to sharing more updates from Liverpool and highlighting the continued progress being made to secure a stronger future for D&T in schools.
