Published 8th May 2025
The Design and Technology Quality Mark is awarded to secondary departments and primary schools that deliver excellent teaching and learning in design and technology. Schools that achieve this award have undergone a thorough evaluation process, demonstrating excellence in curriculum planning, delivery, leadership, and innovation in D&T.
We are delighted to announce that The Gates Primary School has been awarded the prestigious D&T Quality Mark by the Design & Technology Association. This accolade recognises the school’s outstanding commitment to design and technology education and the hard work of staff and pupils alike.
Emily, D&T lead at Gates Primary, shared her excitement about the award:
“We are absolutely thrilled to achieve the D&T Quality Mark! This award is a wonderful recognition of our hard work and dedication to delivering what we know to be a fantastic Design and Technology curriculum at The Gates. We believe that D&T plays a vital role in nurturing creativity and problem-solving skills in our pupils. The children truly enjoy every aspect of our D&T lessons, from hands-on projects to innovative design challenges. It's incredibly rewarding to be recognised for our D&T curriculum by the Design and Technology Association and we're excited to continue fostering this passion for Design and Technology in the future!”
Ryan Ball, Director of Education for the Design & Technology Association, praised all the schools involved:
“The dedication shown by the schools earning the D&T Quality Mark is truly commendable. It’s a demanding process, and we’re continually inspired by the innovative and high-standard D&T teaching happening across such a diverse range of schools.”
The D&T Quality Mark is based on the Self Review Framework, which helps schools evaluate and enhance all aspects of their design and technology provision.
