Discover the future of manufacturing at West Yorkshire Manufacturing Services

For the third consecutive year, West Yorkshire Manufacturing Services (WYMS) is inviting local secondary schools to its National Manufacturing Day exhibition, giving students a unique opportunity to explore careers in manufacturing and engineering.

Taking place on the 25th September 2025, this event offers students the chance to meet manufacturers from across West Yorkshire, participate in engineering-based challenges, and interact with locally made products. The day is designed with teachers and students firmly in mind, focusing on what matters most to them.

National Manufacturing Day, led by the trade body Make UK, celebrates the manufacturing industry by encouraging manufacturers to open their doors and showcase opportunities within the sector. WYMS has taken this a step further by bringing multiple manufacturers together under one roof, providing a broader insight into the exciting career paths available.

The event has become a highlight in the local calendar, attracting not only students and teachers but also job seekers and community members eager to discover what modern manufacturing looks like today. This year’s programme centres on the future of the industry and features:

• Product demonstrations
• Employability skills workshops
• Career path case studies

• Apprenticeship opportunities

With many skilled professionals approaching retirement and growing skills gaps within the sector, attracting young people to manufacturing and engineering remains a top priority. Feedback from previous years has shown that both students and teachers often lack awareness of the diverse opportunities available. This event aims to change that—one student at a time.

The exhibition is especially valuable for secondary school students in Year 9 and above from September 2025, though all age groups are welcome.
