New KS3 Context Launch: Celebrating Success with Pentagram

Published 15th August 2025

We are excited to launch a brand new ‘Inspired by Industry’ context to coincide with the start of the Premier League season: ‘Celebrating Success’, created in collaboration with Pentagram, the world’s largest independent design agency and the creative team behind the UEFA Europa Conference League Trophy.

This free KS3 resource invites students to reimagine what it means to recognise achievement, drawing inspiration from Pentagram’s own design process for a major sporting trophy. Using the five stages of the design cycle – empathise, define, ideate, prototype, and test – learners will design their own awards, from sports trophies to commemorative plaques, exploring both aesthetic and functional considerations.

The open brief gives flexibility for teachers to focus on materials, processes, and techniques most relevant to their scheme of work. Students might experiment with CAD, rapid prototyping, and traditional workshop skills, as well as investigate sustainability, ergonomics, and user-centred design. The project encourages conceptual thinking as well as practical making, and there’s scope for both individual and group outcomes.

This context provides a real-world link to a global creative business. Teachers can explore how Pentagram approach research, narrative, and prototyping, and adapt these methods for the classroom. It’s a great chance to embed industry practice into KS3, while giving students the freedom to create something personal and meaningful.
