Prioritising Wellbeing This Summer
Published 19th June 2025
As the summer term winds down, many D&T teachers are feeling the weight of another busy academic year. With deadlines, exams, enrichment activities, and curriculum changes all jostling for attention, it’s easy to forget one vital element: your own wellbeing.
To support the wellbeing of education staff, Education Support has released its Rest, Reflect, Reset Summer Wellbeing Toolkit, a free collection of practical, thoughtful resources designed to help you switch off, recharge, and reconnect with life beyond the classroom.
The Summer Wellbeing Toolkit offers a collection of practical resources, tips and activities to help teaching professionals unwind, decompress, and reconnect with themselves and life beyond the classroom.
Whether you’ve had a full-on year managing workshops, updating schemes of learning, or mentoring trainee teachers, this toolkit provides space for reflection and renewal.
Highlights include:
- Ideas for setting boundaries between work and rest
- Mental health check-ins and journaling prompts
- Tips on getting outdoors, being creative, and switching off from ‘teacher mode’
In addition to the toolkit, two webinar recordings are now available to watch and share with colleagues:
- Navigating Misogyny and Polarised Views: Supporting Staff Wellbeing in the Classroom: https://tinyurl.com/2udnhm4k
- Staying Well in Teaching: Research-Based Insights and Strategies: https://tinyurl.com/bdetc7wk
These sessions tackle the pressures staff face today and offer research-informed approaches to staying well in a demanding profession.
Please consider sharing the toolkit with your department or wider school network.
