The previous Secondary Subject Leaders’ File proved an invaluable and popular resource for secondary subject leaders offering comprehensive guidance on a wide range of issues, from curriculum and assessment planning, the role of the subject leader, staff management, health and safety issues, and accommodation.

These ten files and accompanying introduction are in pdf format and contain a wealth of information and links to help subject leaders plan and develop their departments in line with modern curriculum and practices. It provides a comprehensive set of materials addressing all the major aspects which subject leaders are expected to address in their work.

This set of files is one of a range of publications and guidance developed by the D&T Association to help teachers in schools. It complements the Association’s Key Stage 3 and GCSE resource banks and GCSE CPD relating to introducing the new curriculum, and is consistent with the range of National Curriculum guidance published on the Association’s website. When used with these publications and guidance this set provides all the basic written material subject leaders require to carry out the role.
