This PowerPoint presentation is designed to be used as an in-service resource to enable members of a D&T department to develop an understanding of approaches to developing and communicating ideas for products.
The assessment objectives for the D&T GCSE state that in the Non Examined Assessment candidates will be assessed on the following:

  • AO1 Identify, investigate and outline design possibilities to address needs and wants
  • AO2 Design and make prototypes that are fit for purpose
  • AO3 Analyse and evaluate design decisions and outcomes, including for prototypes made by themselves and others
  • AO4 Demonstrate and apply knowledge and understanding of technical, designing and making principles

Important in the design process is generating initial design ideas (available as a separate CPD resource) and how these ideas can be moved forwards and developed into a product that can be produced in prototype form and the ideas communicated to others using a range of approaches.
