Regional D&T Leaders Come Together for National Training Day
Published 8th May 2026
Regional D&T Leaders from across the country came together this week for a full day of collaboration and practical activities focused on supporting and developing design and technology education in schools.
Industry Collaboration and Curriculum Development
The event brought together our Regional D&T Leaders, sponsored by Samsung, alongside industry partners Dryad, representatives from the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Competition, and Association staff to explore classroom resources, curriculum support and future programme development. The day opened with welcome updates from the Association before delegates took part in a series of workshops and feedback sessions.
Representatives from Dryad led a practical discussion around experiences of using D&T materials within schools, gathering honest feedback from teachers about what works well in the classroom. The session aimed to help shape future developments to better support teaching and learning.
Delegates also contributed feedback on the second year launch of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow programme, discussing ways to further support engagement and identifying possible barriers for schools taking part.
Hands On Training and Industry Challenges
Throughout the day, Regional D&T Leaders took part in hands on activities linked to Projects on a Page and Inspired by Industry resources. Working collaboratively, delegates explored how primary units can be delivered in practice before moving into secondary focused training centred around industry linked learning.
During the Inspired by Industry workshop, Regional D&T Leaders ideated and prototyped concepts in response to a live brief from Mamas & Papas, encouraging participants to explore the resources fully and provide feedback.
This was a truly collaborative and practical day, with our Regional D&T Leaders receiving training on key D&TA resources that will directly support teachers in their regions. The feedback, creativity and shared expertise demonstrated throughout the day will also play a vital role in shaping our future work and strengthening the support we provide to schools at both a regional and national level.

Reflecting on the Regional Leaders Programme
The event also included opportunities for Regional D&T Leaders to reflect on their experiences within the role so far, helping shape future development of the programme and identify areas for further support.
Ending the Day with a Practical Race Challenge
To conclude the day, delegates also took part in a friendly race challenge linked to the practical workshop activities, bringing a competitive end to the training while showcasing creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills in action.
