Technician Conference 2026 returns

Published 6th May 2026

The Science and DT Technicians’ Conference 2026 returns on Friday 26 June 2026, offering a nationally significant day of professional development for technicians and teachers supporting practical learning. Hosted at The University of Birmingham School, Selly Oak (B29 6QU), the event runs from 09:45 to 15:15, with registration from 09:00.

Practical CPD with classroom impact

Designed by and for technicians, the conference is widely recognised as one of the largest events of its kind. While rooted in science and technical support, it also offers strong value for design and technology teachers seeking to enhance practical delivery, strengthen workshop practice and support safer, more effective learning environments.

The Design & Technology Association will play an active role in the day, with its Health & Safety consultants delivering a series of workshops focused on developing practical skills, strengthening subject knowledge, and supporting safer classroom and workshop practice. These sessions are designed to offer clear, actionable strategies that teachers can take straight back into their departments.

Delegates can take part in three workshops across the day, many led by experienced technicians, ensuring relevance to real classroom and workshop contexts.

Networking, resources and sector support

A key feature of the day is the extensive exhibition space, including organisations such as CLEAPSS and Philip Harris, alongside a wide range of specialist suppliers and support services. This provides teachers and technicians with access to trusted guidance, resources and equipment to support effective practical teaching.

The conference also offers valuable networking opportunities, enabling professionals to share ideas, solve challenges collaboratively and build strong connections across the sector.

Affordable, practical and impact-driven, this event supports those at the heart of practical education. Early booking is recommended via www.scitechconf.co.uk. For enquiries or programme input, contact John Booth at contact@thescienceteam.co.uk.
