Celebrating the Growing Network of D&T Hub Schools
Published 26th May 2026
A Moment Worth Celebrating
Some visits leave you feeling genuinely optimistic about the future of design and technology education. Presenting a school with Design & Technology Association D&T Hub School status is one of those moments.
Over the past few months, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting our newly designated D&T Hub Schools to recognise both the schools and their Regional D&T Leaders. These visits are a chance to celebrate the people, partnerships and everyday practice that are helping to strengthen design and technology education in a really meaningful way.
It has also been particularly special to see the work of and hear from students during these visits. Their creativity, confidence and enthusiasm for the subject are a powerful reminder of why this work matters. Alongside that, the warmth and commitment of each school’s leadership team has stood out, creating the conditions where D&T can genuinely thrive.

More Than a Plaque
Being named a D&T Hub School is about far more than receiving a plaque. It recognises schools that not only lead the subject well in their own classrooms, but are also willing to open their doors, share expertise and support teachers across their region.
At the heart of every Hub School is a Regional D&T Leader whose passion and commitment are already making a real difference. Supported by Samsung UK and delivered in partnership with the Design & Technology Association, the programme is built on a simple idea: teachers are best placed to support other teachers.
Supporting Teachers, Strengthening the Subject
Regional D&T Leaders share good practice, signpost professional development opportunities, build links with industry and ensure that classroom teachers’ voices are heard in national conversations about the future of the subject.
Of course, none of this happens alone. Regional Leaders need the backing of a school that believes in collaboration and is prepared to become a welcoming centre for professional learning. That is exactly what our D&T Hub Schools provide.

Looking Ahead
The D&T Hub School network is part of the Design & Technology Association’s long-term vision to build stronger, more sustainable support for teachers across the UK. While every region is different, the shared goal is clear: to ensure every young person has access to inspiring, high-quality design and technology education.
Each presentation has been a proud and enjoyable occasion, and a reminder of the generosity, enthusiasm and professionalism within our D&T community.
These designation events are continuing through to the end of the summer term as we formally recognise all 13 of our D&T Hub Schools.
Congratulations to all the schools who have achieved D&T Hub School status.
