GCSE and A-Level Results Day is nearly here!

Published 11th August 2022

We can see by the ever-present activity on social media and the sheer number of queries we receive each week from teachers that many of you are still busy planning and writing your curriculum and preparing classrooms for the new school year. However, we hope teachers also take time to relax and enjoy their summer holiday in this fabulous weather.

A Level results will be released on the 18th of August, closely followed by GCSE results on the 25th of August. We know many of you will be in school ready to support students collecting their results in person and will be there to support those who need help after accessing results online. These are busy days as teachers support students through their highs and lows, helping them navigate the next step in their education and personal development.

This year represents the first exam outcomes for a while, not having to employ teacher-assessed grades as they did in 2020 and 2021, this methodology implemented in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We would like to pre-emptively congratulate students on getting through some particularly challenging years of learning regardless of results. It has been an incredibly tough time for teachers and students, who have had to adjust to new ways of learning during lockdowns and have faced ongoing disruption, which has taken a toll on academic progress and mental wellbeing for many.

Despite the setbacks, students have sat more than 500,000 exam papers for vocational and technical qualifications, and the GCSE and A-level results from 2021 were the highest on record. This should be recognised as an amazing achievement. It is fair to say that we are still in a recovery period as we make the slow but steady transition back to pre-pandemic examination processes. Whatever the outcomes, we wish you all the best of luck.
