Regional D&T Leaders share practical ideas and classroom insight

Our Regional D&T Leaders from across the UK recently came together for a collaborative training day designed to strengthen design and technology teacher support in schools. Bringing together Regional D&T Leaders, industry partners and Design & Technology Association staff, the event focused on sharing practical ideas, exploring design and technology resources, and gathering teacher feedback to enhance support for classrooms across the country.
Sponsored by Samsung UK, the event featured contributions from Dryad and the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow team. Through practical workshops and collaborative discussions, Regional D&T Leaders explored curriculum resources, industry partnerships and future programme development. Teachers' experiences were central to every session, helping industry partners better understand classroom needs and shape resources that support effective teaching and learning.
Supporting teachers through regional expertise
Hands-on activities gave Regional D&T Leaders the opportunity to experience Projects on a Page and Inspired by Industry resources first-hand, including responding to a live design brief from Mamas & Papas. Collaborative prototyping and practical challenges demonstrated how industry-linked activities can inspire creativity, problem solving and real-world learning in both primary and secondary classrooms.
The day also gave Regional D&T Leaders time to reflect on their experiences, share good practice and identify new ways to strengthen design and technology teacher support within their regions. Feedback from the event will help shape future resources and ensure teachers continue to receive relevant, practical support.
This was a truly collaborative and practical day, with our Regional D&T Leaders receiving training on key D&TA resources that will directly support teachers in their regions. The feedback, creativity and shared expertise demonstrated throughout the day will also play a vital role in shaping our future work and strengthening the support we provide to schools at both a regional and national level.
