Why D&T Training Accreditation Matters
Our Design and Technology Training and Accreditation Scheme equips schools with the essential health and safety training needed for the practical delivery of D&T subjects. Certification proves your team has completed robust, nationally recognised training, which supports local risk assessments and safety codes of practice. The scheme has national status and can form the basis of local safety codes of practice and risk assessments. It’s important that you are able to prove your recognised training and competence should an incident occur.
British Standards Institution BS4163:2021+A1:2022
"All employees and supporting adults should be competent to undertake the tasks expected of them. They should be trained in safe use of equipment, machinery and processes. Learners should only work in high-risk areas when they are fully under the control of a person who has demonstrated competency through an authorised training scheme (such as the one that the D&T Association provides). It is recommended that these accreditations are refreshed over a period of 5 years."
Here’s How to Book Your D&T Training
You can search for advertised training courses taking place across the country, covering a number of standards. Alternatively, RDTHSCs can be contacted directly so you can quickly and easily plan and organise tailored training within your own school, or within a group of local schools. Depending on your experience and the certification you currently hold, you may need either initial or refresher training.
What Will Your D&T Training Cost?
All the training courses advertised on our website are priced per person. RDTHSCs will confirm their daily or hourly consultancy fees for training in schools and colleges with you when booked directly. Accreditation fees are included within the course cost for both initial or refresher training.
What Areas are Needed?
Training and accreditation is required for each process/machine being used in school. The Design & Technology Association has grouped tools, machinery and processes to form a number of ‘Standards’. These are shown in the table below.
