Let’s Look at Hats

This resource focuses on children investigating and evaluating hats.

It includes two PowerPoint presentations, one with examples of different hats and questions to ask about who uses these hats and which are the children’s favourites, and one looking at different ways of joining fabrics using a variety of methods. Practitioners should use these as starting points and adapt the resource to include products that would engage children, including real hats and fabric examples. The resource also includes ten workshop plans with activities, vocabulary, assessment opportunities and plenaries. The activities include exploring different hats and identifying their users, and deciding on appropriate materials and joining methods and designs for a sun hat.
