Three‑lesson project helping students understand design challenges through investigation, playful skill‑building, peer review and developing a final concept, with notes and presentation.

This activity is about getting students to really understand design challenges and the design process and, where possible, work like real designers.

The project should take place over three lessons and covers:

  • Design Understanding: Developing real knowledge of the design challenge through investigation.
  • Design Practice: Using play to develop design skills that specifically respond to the design challenge.
  • Peer Review: Putting all the ideas on the table, depersonalising them and letting go of intellectual property rights.
  • Design Activity: Developing a single design concept with the new skills and knowledge developed in previous lessons.
