Eamonn Durkan QTS, B.Ed (Hons), MSc, is a highly respected Design and Technology educator, trainer, consultant and Health & Safety specialist with more than 35 years of professional experience across Design and technology education, engineering and technical training.
As a Senior Registered Design and Technology Health & Safety Consultant, Eamonn brings together extensive practical knowledge, educational leadership and a strong understanding of the demands of modern Design and Technical education. His senior career positions include Head of Design and Technology at a large 11–18 Technology College and Programme Area Manager at a Sixth Form College. He has also contributed to higher education as an Associate of the University of Manchester and as a lecturer in Initial Teacher Training at Liverpool John Moores University.
Eamonn’s expertise extends into assessment and curriculum development. He has served as Examiner for Engineering Computer Applications, Level 3 Engineering Mathematics and Physics, and as a Moderator for A-level Design and Technology. He has contributed to publications in Design and Technology, Graphics and Engineering, and has worked with national organisations to develop innovative digital and interactive environments designed to enhance engineering learning.
A specialist in the design, development and equipping of workshops, studios, makerspaces and technical learning environments, Eamonn provides practical, tailored solutions for schools, colleges, universities and technical training organisations.
He is also an experienced creator of bespoke training courses and professional development programmes, designed to meet the specific needs of individual organisations.
