Matt Sedgley is a Design & Technology Association Registered Design and Technology Health and Safety Consultant (RDTHSC), delivering accredited Design and Technology health and safety training in accordance with BS 4163:2021+A1:2022.
Matt has worked in Design and Technology education since 2007, with experience across secondary education, Initial Teacher Training and supporting departments requiring improvement. Alongside his work in education, he has a strong practical and manufacturing background, including product development, digital manufacturing and advising on the development of makerspaces and specialist practical environments.
Matt now runs MakerSafety, providing D&T health and safety training and consultancy to schools, colleges, academy trusts, ITT providers and other educational organisations. In addition to accredited machinery and workshop training, MakerSafety provides departmental health and safety audits, machinery and workshop reviews, risk management support, room layout and facility planning, and wider Design and Technology consultancy.
Training can be delivered on-site within schools and colleges or at Maker Playground, MakerSafety’s dedicated D&T training centre in New Milton, on the Hampshire/Dorset border. The centre provides a well-equipped practical workshop environment for hands-on machinery and health and safety training, and hosts courses for individual teachers and technicians as well as larger groups.
From its Hampshire/Dorset base, MakerSafety provides Design and Technology health and safety training throughout the UK, supporting individual teachers and technicians, whole departments, academy trusts and other educational organisations.
