GCSE Textiles Rescue - Poppers

Curriculum and Lesson Planning Textiles KS3 KS4 Secondary ITT

Ages 14 to 16

This practical video introduces sew-on poppers, also known as press studs, and explains how they can create a neat, discreet and secure fastening for textile products and garments.

The demonstration guides students through identifying the two matching parts, positioning and aligning them accurately, then stitching each section securely to the fabric. It also highlights the importance of neat, even stitches and checking that the fastening opens and closes correctly.

The video can be used to introduce the technique, support a classroom demonstration or help GCSE students develop accuracy and confidence when selecting and attaching functional fastenings.
