Children’s portable medication storage

This context encourages students to explore design solutions for children’s portable medication storage, focusing on the needs of young users and the practical challenges surrounding transporting and organising medication. Students are encouraged to investigate empathy-led design, user needs, safety, accessibility and storage, while developing products that support independence and well-being.

There are opportunities to work with a wide range of materials and processes, including textiles, plastics, CAD, rapid prototyping and graphical communication. Potential outcomes may include inhaler cases, medication bags, diabetic equipment holders, reminder systems or portable storage solutions tailored to specific users and situations. The project also supports exploration of ergonomics, sustainability, manufacture and user-centred design, making it highly adaptable for GCSE NEA preparation or broader classroom projects.
