Inspired by Industry Pentagram
This context invites students to explore how success can be recognised through the design of awards and trophies, inspired by Pentagram’s work on the UEFA Europa Conference League Trophy. Pupils follow a full design–make–evaluate process, from empathising with users to developing and prototyping ideas in CAD or with physical models. They can investigate form, symbolism, ergonomics, and materials, as well as rapid prototyping processes such as 3D printing or casting. Creative freedom is encouraged alongside technical skills in visual communication, modelling, and user-centred design, with opportunities to test concepts virtually or physically. The project works well for individual or group work, encouraging problem-solving, innovation, and the ability to tell a story through design.
