Skills for Employment

Ages 11 to 16

This careers resource helps Key Stage 3 and 4 students explore employment opportunities across the creative, design and engineering industries. It is particularly useful for students considering their GCSE options and those already studying GCSE subjects.

The four minute video introduces future careers, emerging industries and the transferable skills employers value, including creativity, communication, teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, innovation and adaptability.

The supporting PowerPoint provides more detailed information, activities and links to additional media. It can be adapted for careers lessons, assemblies, D&T lessons or staff training sessions.

The resource includes a teacher guide, PowerPoint presentation, video and timed video script.
