Ages 8 to 12

VEX IQ uses plastic, snap together components designed to help pupils build highly functional robots without any previous robotics experience. Pupils can begin with a simple robot before progressing to increasingly creative and complex designs as their confidence develops.

The IQ Education Kit contains everything needed to build one robot, making STEM activities manageable for teachers and engaging for pupils. A Pin Tool is included to make assembly and disassembly easier for smaller hands.

Organised Classroom Storage

The kit is supplied in two storage bins, with a clearly labelled location for every component. This makes parts easy to find, organise and return after each lesson.

VEX IQ Electronics

The kit includes everything needed to power, control and programme a robot:

  • Robot Brain with a colour screen
  • Rechargeable Robot Battery suitable for extended classroom use
  • Wireless Controller for operating and testing robot builds
  • Optical Sensor for detecting colour and light
  • Distance Sensor for identifying nearby objects

VEX IQ electronics are forwards and backwards compatible with first generation components.

Coding with VEX IQ

Pupils can programme their robot using VEXcode IQ Blocks, Python or C++. VEXcode IQ is available for Chromebooks, tablets, Windows PCs and Macs.
