Our industry partnership connects businesses with schools to inspire students in design, technology, engineering, and manufacturing. It supports teachers with CPD, industry placements, and real-world insights, while giving students a clear understanding of workplace expectations. This collaboration bridges the gap between education and industry, helping prepare students for future careers and addressing the UK’s skills gap.
Inspired by Industry
Inspired by Industry has been created in collaboration with leading design and manufacturing companies to give all D&T teachers free, fresh, real-world contexts for Key Stage 3. By bringing industry practice into the classroom, it supports teachers to deliver projects that mirror how businesses design, prototype and test—helping to create stronger links to Key Stage 4 and beyond. To make this even easier, additional curriculum support documents are available free to D&T Association members, offering ready-to-use resources that will continue to grow over time.
This is a wonderful initiative giving design and technology teachers the opportunity to see how engineers work in businesses such as Dyson. It is encouraging to know that teachers will be equipped with industry-relevant knowledge and skills to teach young people about the exciting, creative and challenging world of engineering.
