GCSE Textiles Rescue - Blind Hem
Ages 14 to 16
This practical video introduces the blind hem and explains how it can be used to create a neat finish with minimal stitching visible on the outside of a textile product or garment.
The demonstration guides students through finishing the raw edge, measuring and folding the hem correctly, selecting the blind hem stitch and using a specialist presser foot to machine accurately along the folded fabric.
The five minute video can be used to introduce the technique, support a classroom demonstration or help GCSE students improve the accuracy and quality of their textile construction skills.
