GCSE Textiles Rescue - Machine Stitched Hem

Ages 14 to 16

This practical video introduces the machine stitched hem and explains how it can be used to create a neat, durable finish on textile products and garments.

The demonstration guides students through finishing the raw edge, measuring and folding the hem allowance, pressing and pinning the fabric, then machining an accurate line of stitching to secure the hem.

The six minute video can be used to introduce the technique, support a classroom demonstration or help GCSE students improve the accuracy and quality of their textile construction skills.
