GCSE Textiles Rescue - Reverse Applique

Ages 14 to 16

This practical video introduces reverse appliqué and shows how the technique can be used to add decorative shapes, lettering and contrasting fabrics to textile products.

The demonstration guides students through layering the fabrics, creating and positioning a template, marking and machining around the design, then carefully cutting away the top layer to reveal the contrasting fabric beneath.

The six minute video can be used to introduce the technique, support a classroom demonstration or help GCSE students develop accuracy and confidence in their practical textile skills.
