Context Overview
The Royal Air Force (RAF) is one branch of the British armed forces. Unlike many companies and organisations looking for opportunities, The RAF engineer solutions to real world issues as they arise. One such area that has been tackled before, and the focus of this context is ‘Short-term shelter’.

It links directly to the National Curriculum through areas such as structural design, environment, portability and engineering solutions, and develops skills including CAD, CAM, rapid prototyping, manufacturing processes, maths and science, visual and technical communication, and teamwork, using the real-world focus of short-term shelter inspired by the work of the RAF.
